New SuperMicro SYS-E200-8D Lab Gear!

Got myself some new lab kit while I was in Palo Alto a couple of weeks ago. Decided perhaps its time to up the ante onto some decent, pseudo “Enterprise” gear for lab use.

Got myself 3 units of Supermicro E200-8D Superservers…

Yes, yes… I am hearing echo’s of, “How it that Enterprise hardware?!” It will be the closest I am gonna get to Enterprise hardware from a costs and wife-acceptancy-factor.

Without boring the crap out of you guys, if you wanna know more about the hardware, head over here.

Here’s what I got for the build for each node.

Supermicro SYS-E200-8D

  • 32GB UDIMM Memory
  • 1 x OCZ RD400 128GB NVMe M.2
  • 1 x Samsung 950 EVO 512GB SSD
  • 2 x 10GbE Ports
  • 2 x 1GbE Ports
  • 1 x IPMI Port
  • 1 x 16GB USB SANDisk (for booting ESXi)

While I was at it, decided that 10G switch was a nice addition. So I picked up a Buffalo BS-XP2008.
