HCI Scares Us... The Storage Admins
What scares us storage admins most about hyper-converged infrastructure? Is it all unfounded?
I have always been a massive fan of PDAs and have used generations of Palm Pilots from the Palm iiiC to the Palm V and the Tungsten series. Even tried the Handspring platform that tried to disrupt the market then.

How Long Does It Take To Recover From vSAN Drive or Node Failures?
It is perhaps a valid question to ask any storage vendor "How long before storage comes back to normal status after failure?" Most vendor's claim such high availability on their solutions, so surely this is something that we have all got nailed down. However, it is an extremely difficult question to answer, influenced by various factors.

Surviving 63 Drives Failure on vSAN
One of the most common discussion topics around vSAN is around availability. There are also a lot of misconceptions and FUD (fear, uncertainty and doubts) around this topic. What better way to debunk it by doing a little test on failures!

Caveat : Running Nested vSAN on a vSAN Cluster
Big fan of William Lam's PowerCLI script for deploying multiple Nested ESXi VM's for demo and POC purposes (link). Had to tweak it slightly for what I wanted it to do.

Run File Services on vSAN with IsilonSD
Recently, received a request for large single namespace file server on vSAN. Given vSAN today don't yet support file services, the options are 3rd party solutions such as Dell EMC IsilonSD Edge, Dell EMC CloudArray or NetApp OnTAP Select vNAS.

10 Reasons To NOT Consider vSAN
Was just watching an old episode of Late Show with Letterman yesterday night, and on came my favourite segment. The TOP 10 List. Kinda got to thinking, I'll put up a list on of my own too... Enjoy!
